FEBRUARY 2012

Presidents Message:

Our club's February fishout is planned for Saturday the 18th, at Hinkson slough. there will be members there to assist anyone who wants help with setup and tips on where to fish. We have a club barbeque planned for this fishout as well. We will be having our first Tier's Cabin of the year on the 9th...hopefully we will be tying something that will work at Hinkson! The opener for Hinkson is on the 11th, and some of us are planning to fish that weekend; if the weather cooperates, we may do an overnighter.

Kris Urquhart will be our speaker for the general meeting on Wednesday, the first of February. He will bring us up to date on the fisheries in the Mason Valley Wildlife Management Area.

I want to throw out a reminder about Stan Zuber's tying workshop. If you are wanting to learn to flyfish, it's good to know what flies to use. There is no better way to learn how to tie a fly of choice, than to attend this free workshop.

I would also like to remind everyone that we are continuing to have the Flyfle at each meeting. If you would like to participate, bring 2 flies for the drawings; one will go into our general raffle, and one goes into a special raffle, the Flyfle, for those who contributed a fly.

The Polar Bear Fishout was attended by 12 fishing fools, including myself. The weather cooperated, and it turned to be a great day for fishing and fellowship. The only thing better than the weather was the food! My compliments and gratitude to Mike York for taking on the barbeque duties.

Hope to see you at the meeting.

Dave Conklin
President
